With homesharing apps now a firm fixture on the smartphones of many travelers, big name hotel brands are increasingly looking to build their own presence in the home rental market - and are doing it in their own way.
Future business activity in U.S. hotels rose in April according to the latest reading of the Hotel Industry Leading (HIL) Indicator. e−forecasting.com's HIL increased by 0.4% in April to 138.8, following an increase of 0.3% in March. The index is set to equal 100 in 2010.
The Canadian hotel industry reported occupancy rose 0.7% to 68.5%, ADR increased 2.7% to 158.57 Canadian dollars ($123.04) and RevPAR rose 3.4% to CA$108.66 ($84.32).
As part of a major reinvestment, IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) is creating over 70 jobs and refurbishing 60,000 square feet of office space at its three-storey corporate facilities in Branston, Burton upon Trent.
