MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 6, 2002—Hampton®, the national brand of mid-priced Hampton Inn® and Hampton Inn & Suites® hotels, today announced that it opened eight Hampton hotels during April and May of 2002, including two hotels in California, further expanding the brand’s Western presence. The eight hotels add 618 new rooms, bringing the brand’s systemwide total to 120,050 rooms. The new openings, all of which are franchised properties, comprise six Hampton Inn hotels and two Hampton Inn & Suites hotels.
“The Western United States continues to offer a warm reception for the Hampton brand,” said Phil Cordell, senior vice-president, brand management, Hampton. “In addition to opening both a Hampton Inn hotel and a Hampton Inn & Suites hotel in California, we experienced continued growth along the Eastern seaboard and in the Midwestern United States. As interest in hotel development continues to rise, the Hampton brand is well positioned to ride the crest of new growth.”
