InterContinental Hotels Group received from the Mexican Association of Franchises 'Telmex Award to the Fastest Growing Franchise in 2004' in the category of 'Franchises with more than 5 million pesos of investment'.
IHG owns the hotel brands InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Express hotels, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites and Hotel Indigo, all of them with worldwide recognition and with a solid presence in our country, counting 83 hotels operating in Mexico.
Mr. Octavio Navarro, Director of Development and Franchise Sales for the Mexico Region, received the award from Jorge Rodas, Telmex Comercial Industry Deputy Director .
On behalf of IHG Mr. Navarro thanked the Association for the distinction and commented “We owe this recognition all those Mexican investors that have had trust in our brands, specially if we consider the important amount of funds required in the construction of new hotels. This award is also the result of all added values that the company offers to franchisees such as: the great support of our worldwide sales network, the world’s largest frequent flyer loyalty program and the ongoing training and certification programs that enable us to assure that all our hotels offer optimal services to our guests”.
The total investment in hotel openings during 2004 is estimated in more than 800 rooms which represent more than 56 million dollars, generating approximately 800 direct jobs. The 2004 openings correspond to the hotels Crowne Plaza Torreon, Crowne Plaza Xalapa, Holiday Inn Cd. Obregon, Holiday Inn Irapuato, Holiday Inn Reynosa Industrial Poniente, Holiday Inn San Cristobal de las Casas and Holiday Inn Express Villahermosa.
The signature of the new franchise contracts during 2004 correspond to the openings of 4 Crowne Plaza hotels, 6 Holiday Inn and 5 Holiday Inn Express hotels. These hotels represent approximately 2,000 rooms, which represent an estimated investment of more than 134 million dollars and a generation of 2,000 direct jobs in Mexico.
