February 2010 also saw a 12% increase in tourism compared to February 2008, which was the best year ever for travel to Israel. Overnight stays in Israel saw an increase of 28% last month with 178,000 travelers. Also, 44,000 travelers arrived in Israel for day visits, a 300% increase compared to the same period last year. These statistics follow record years for travel to Israel in 2008 and 2009.

"We are thrilled to see such a great increase of travelers arriving in Israel last month, especially during the winter," says Arie Sommer, Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. "We anticipate this trend to continue with the spring holiday season approaching."
