Proving that Los Cabos is “unstoppable” after Hurricane Odile, one of the destination’s most noted resorts, the AAA Four Diamond award winning Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort, reopened last week welcoming guests back to its newly refreshed, authentic hacienda-like environment. The swift, six-week recovery is attributed to the perseverance of resort employees and management, the owner of the hotel, as well as prompt responsiveness from the community overall.
“While the entire destination was dramatically impacted by the hurricane, our property suffered minimal cosmetic damage, providing an unforeseen opportunity to give the resort a fresh makeover,” said Renato Mendonca, General Manager of the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar. “The quick restoration of the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, and the Los Cabos area as a whole, really shows the world that we are a community made up of strong individuals, both mentally and physically. We are Los Cabos; we are unstoppable.”
The resort reopened 200 of its 270 guestrooms, and the majority of the property’s restaurants and guest services are now fully operational. In a second phase of restoration, the resort will put the final touches on its two five-star diamond award-winning fine dining restaurants, De Cortez Mezquite Grill and Pitahayas, as well as the remaining 70 guest rooms and expansive gym. All improvements will be completed by the end of the year.
Perched on 28 acres overlooking the Sea of Cortez, the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar Golf & Spa Resort with 270 guest rooms, each featuring the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, is located in an environment that is reminiscent of an upscale seaside village. The sprawling, Hacienda-inspired resort is home to five restaurants and six bars, four pools, the acclaimed Cactus Spa and Fitness Center (part of the Starwood Spa Collection), and a broad selection of outdoor activities. More than 18,018 square feet of function space welcomes meetings and special events.
