After a full renovation, RIU Hotels & Resorts is reopening its signature hotel in Nerja, the Riu Monica. The hotel, first inaugurated in 1996, now offers new services and a new design to meet the needs of today's guests. After it reopens, the hotel will be recommended for adults aged 18 and over.
The hotel's new design features will be visible even in its facade, which will have a cutting-edge style thanks to the use of material such as glass and aluminum. Its 234 rooms, all renovated, will have a minimalist design with pure lines and reddish tones giving the accommodations a fresher look, complemented by more modern furnishings.
The hotel's public areas have also been renovated. The distribution of the lobby, reception and rest areas have all been modified, including a new chill out terrace with large windows which connects the hotel's entrance with the bar lounge, offering guests a warm and inviting atmosphere.
In addition, the main restaurant is one of the areas which underwent the most significant changes to its structure. Not only was the eating area expanded, its entrance and distribution have also been changed, including new buffets and large windows which let in natural light. Likewise, a new Spanish restaurant has been added to the hotel's culinary offer.
The resort will also maintain its two pools, one outdoor and another indoor open in the winter.
Renovations were also made to the popular pool bar and bar lounge, which now includes two stages, one outdoor for summer evenings and one indoor for the rest of the year. Lastly, the hotel will offer free Wi-Fi for guests, both in the common areas and the rooms.
The Riu Monica, located in front of Torrecilla beach, a mere half mile from the center of Nerja, is surrounded by restaurants and entertainment facilities open year-round. The Malaga airport is just an hour away, while the city of Malaga is a scant 40 miles from the hotel.
