In December 2016, the winners of the 2nd Quiet Hotel Awards will be announced by the Quietroom Foundation. The annual Quiet Hotel Awards have been created to reward hotels which have gone the extra mile to ensure their guests a good night's rest in a quiet room. In 2015, the 1st overall QHA was won by Hotel Regina, a 5-star luxury hotel close to the Louvre in Paris.
The Quietroom Foundation has its offices in The Netherlands and is the creator of the Quiet Room® label, the first and only independent global label for quiet hotel rooms. The label sets objective standards for the soundproofing of hotel rooms and by the summer of 2016 more than 120 hotels had received QR certification. Since its creation in 2014 the Quiet Room® label has become increasingly popular with travellers: the Quietroom Foundation receives hundreds of emails a day from around the globe requesting information on Quiet Room hotels.
The QHA Competition is open to all hotels which meet the qualifications of the Quiet Room® label. Qualified hotels will be judged on the following criteria:
- occupancy and location of the hotel
- number of rooms and number of rooms with a QR-label
- number of rooms with the highest QR-qualification
- design & build measures for sound insulation
- client reviews on social media
Hotels which have not yet qualified for the Quiet Room label, can apply for qualification to the Quietroom Foundation. After qualification they will automatically be entered in the competition.
For the last 10 years, noise has topped the charts of complaints by hotel guests. With the growing influence of online consumer reviews on hotel reputation and revenues, hotels have begun to take soundproofing seriously. The Quietroom Foundation promotes the development of quiet hotel rooms and helps travellers locate these around the globe.
