    The Canadian hotel industry experienced mixed results in the three key performance metrics during the week of 28 October-3 November 2012, according to data from STR.

    In year-over-year comparisons, occupancy fell 4.0 percent to 55.9 percent, average daily rate was up 1.1 percent to CAD$125.58 and revenue per available room decreased 2.9 percent to CAD$70.16.

    Among the provinces, Alberta rose 1.8 percent in occupancy to 61.7 percent, reporting the largest increase in that metric. Saskatchewan followed with a 1.2-percent increase to 70.7 percent.

    Saskatchewan achieved the largest ADR (+4.9 percent to CAD$128.93) and RevPAR (+6.2 percent to CAD$91.10) increases for the week.

    New Brunswick experienced the largest decrease in all three key performance metrics. The province’s occupancy fell 11.5 percent to 46.4 percent, its ADR was down 1.4 percent to CAD$108.73 and its RevPAR dropped 12.7 percent to CAD$50.43.
