The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the successor of hotel legend Werner Knechtli, renowned General Manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Zurich Airport. From January 1, 2016, Daniel Twerenbold will take over the lead of the hotel. Knechtli will leave the Rezidor Hotel Group by the end of 2015, after 30 years of service. Daniel was also appointed as District Director for all Radisson Blu hotels in Switzerland and will thus be responsible for revenue development in the entire market. Daniel’s inauguration was celebrated with a ceremonial handover of the key in the hotel last night.
His new position will lead Swiss-born Daniel back to his home country after various posts abroad, managing for example hotels in Egypt, Russia, Estonia, Sweden and the UK. Here, he was already responsible for managing a Carlson Rezidor airport hotel. Most recently, he acted as District Director for the Rezidor Hotel Group in the Nordics, where 12 Radisson Blu hotels in Denmark, Iceland and Sweden reported to him. In this role, he delivered impressive results. “We appreciate his very agile, engaging leadership style and with more than 25 years of experience, he is a genuine specialist of the hotel industry!” says Arno Schwalie, Area Vice President Central Europe at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.
Daniel himself is excited about his new position and has already set ambitious goals for the Swiss market. “Although there will be fierce competition among the airport hotels in Zurich, I am convinced that our signature Yes I can!-spirit will provide real added value for our guests. In my role as District Director, I particularly aim to share best practices and to further explore synergies among our hotels,” said Daniel.
