In December 2016, the Quietroom Foundation will elect the winners of the annual Quiet Hotel Awards. The QH Awards have been created to reward hotels which have gone the extra mile to ensure their guests a good night's rest in a quiet room. In 2015, the 1st overall QH Award was won by Hotel Regina, a 5-star luxury hotel close to the Louvre in Paris.
The Quietroom Foundation invites hotels to enter the competition. It is open to all hotels which meet the qualifications of the Quiet Room® label, the first and only independent global label for quiet hotel rooms. The label sets objective standards for the soundproofing of hotel rooms and by the summer of 2016 more than 120 hotels had received QR certification.
Quiet Hotel Awards will be conferred in 3 categories:
- Overall Quiet Hotel Award
- Quiet Inner City Hotel Award
- Quiet Airport Hotel Award
Qualified hotels will be judged on the following criteria:
- occupancy and location of the hotel
- number of rooms and number of rooms with a QR-label
- number of rooms with the highest QR-qualification
- design & build measures for sound insulation
- client reviews on social media
Hotels which have not yet been certified for the Quiet Room® label, can apply for certification to the Quietroom Foundation, which has its offices in The Netherlands. If they meet the soundproofing requirements, they will receive the Quiet Room® label and automatically be entered in the competition.
Hotels which do no meet the requirements of the QR label, can choose to have their rooms soundproofed through the Quiet Room Design & Build Total Concept. This is a soundproofing method involving specific products which considerably shortens and streamlines the process. All necessary soundproofing activities are carried out swiftly and at once and the process includes certification of hotels rooms for the Quiet Room® label.
For the last 10 years, noise has topped the charts of complaints by hotel guests. With the growing influence of online consumer reviews on hotel reputation and revenues, an increasing number of hotels have begun to take soundproofing seriously. Since its creation in 2014 the Quiet Room® label has become increasingly popular among travellers: the Quietroom Foundation receives hundreds of emails a day from all around the globe requesting information on Quiet Room hotels.
