The Planning & Zoning Commission voted Monday night to recommend a rezoning for a 260-room Hilton Hotel, to be called the Creve Coeur Grand Hotel, at Olive Boulevard and Mosley Road.
The proposed hotel project is on 10 acres at the southwest corner of the intersection. It still needs City Council approval.
The proposal is for the renovation of the six-story, 180,000-square-foot HBE Corp. building — which has been at 11318 Olive Boulevard since 1979 — into a Hilton hotel. Plans for the hotel include a six-story addition on the east with service elevators and an approximately 1,929-square-foot addition to the rear for restaurant seating.
Representatives of developer Kummer Hotel Development LLC have said that after the conversion of the building, plans are to later construct a building of up to 20,000 square feet with retail stores and a free-standing restaurant of up to 7,000 square feet. The design of the restaurant and commercial and retail buildings would be reviewed as part of a second phase, officials have said.
The commission also recommended that the City Council approve a second access to Mosley, though primary access to the site would be from two entries on Olive.
