Global Airport Passenger Traffic Remained Strong in October of 2017
 
Airports Council International (ACI) World reported global airport passenger traffic up 6.4% in October 2017 compared to October 2016, significantly higher than the September comparison figure of 5.1% growth. Similarly, passenger traffic grew 6.4% year-to-date as of October 2017. Based on the trend, we can expect the global passenger market to achieve an annual growth rate of 6.5% in 2017, about the same rate as 2016. Read more

U.S. Airline On-Time Performance Up, Cancellations Equal to Lowest Rate Ever
 
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today released its January 2018 Air Travel Consumer Report on air carrier data compiled for the month of November 2017. In November, the reporting carriers posted an on-time arrival rate of 88.3 percent, up from both the 86.5 percent on-time rate in November 2016 and the 84.8 percent mark in October 2017, and the second highest rate ever reported. The highest rate was 88.6 in November 2009. Read more

A country analysis by SiteMinder has revealed online hotel bookings in Spain have virtually doubled over the past five years. The finding is based on data from Euromonitor International, which reports that hotels in the world’s most tourist-ready economy earned €7.3 billion from bookings made through the Internet in 2017 – or, 98 percent more than the €3.7 billion registered from Internet-based hotel bookings in 2012. Read more
